“I love the book that you gave me, you don’t know how much I love that book.  It makes me laugh.  I read it every day.”

When I grow up…

Motivational events often involve costumes, role playing, and dreams. Children love to pretend to be someone else. Books take them to new lands and allow them to identify with new people…sometimes, for one day, they can be whom they want to be when they grow up…

Motivational Events Put Fun Into Reading!

Every RIFSoCal site holds three Motivational Reading Events a year. These special celebratory activities and festivals are planned, organized and conducted by volunteers and culminate with the children choosing a book to take home to add to their personal library.  Parents, relatives, teachers, librarians, school administrators, students, civic groups, retirees, corporate volunteers, and others work together to get kids excited about books – to make reading FUN!

Traffic signs

Many games and activities are played at Motivational Events. This event at TobinWorld taught children about traffic signs and, of course, let them each choose a beautiful, new book!

We celebrate the 100th Day of School

We made hats that said “100” because we’ve been in school for 100 days. I got to choose a book I wanted. I can read more now than 100 days ago!

I Love Penguins!

Penguins are cute, penguins are funny, and kids love books about penguins.
